Discovering Denia: The Treasure of the Costa Blanca

Denia is not just another tourist destination in the Valencian Community; it’s a coastal gem where the blue of the sea blends with history, gastronomy, and nature. With almost 20 kilometres of coastline, this city in Alicante offers a diverse collection of beaches and coves that make every visit unique.

From its long golden sandy beaches to its rocky, crystal-clear coves perfect for snorkelling, Denia charms both those seeking a family holiday and those preferring a quieter retreat or an outdoor sports experience. Here, the Mediterranean is not just admired; it’s lived.

And if you’ve made it this far wondering which are the best beaches in Denia, you’re in the right place. We’ll share it from experience, direct knowledge of the area, and with the goal of helping you find that beach that will become your favourite.

Why Denia is an Unmatched Beach Destination

The variety of landscapes is what really makes the difference. While many coastal destinations have beaches that all look alike, in Denia you can go from an urban beach with full facilities to a hidden cove tucked between cliffs in just 10 minutes.

Another clear advantage is water quality. Many beaches have received the Blue Flag recognition, and the municipality constantly invests in cleanliness, accessibility, and services.

Moreover, the city offers the best of both worlds: modern infrastructure, excellent gastronomy, while still keeping that local charm that captivates. It’s easy to get around and, most importantly, return.

Top 5 Best Beaches in Denia

Here’s our personal selection of the five best beaches in Denia. The list is based on the natural beauty of the surroundings, water quality, available services, and real experiences of visitors year after year.

1. Les Marines Beach: Perfect for Families

If long sunny days with your feet in the sand, a comfortable sunbed, and kids playing worry-free are your thing, Les Marines is the place for you.

This classic beach, located north of the town centre, is renowned for its fine golden sand and calm waters, seemingly tailor-made for families. There are no surprises with sudden waves: the water is shallow for many metres, giving peace of mind when visiting with children.

Having a Blue Flag is no coincidence: it has accessible entrances, shaded areas, constant surveillance, showers, sunbed and umbrella rentals, plus several beach bars that rescue any hot midday with a delicious paella or a chilled summer wine.

This is the beach I always recommend to first-time visitors to Denia. Ideal if you’re travelling with children or looking for the classic Mediterranean beach with fine golden sand and calm, shallow waters.

2. Les Bovetes Beach: More Space, Same Beauty

Just a few minutes north of Les Marines, Les Bovetes offers a breath of space and openness. It shares the same qualities in sand and water, but many visitors highlight the slightly more relaxed atmosphere, especially if you move away from the main entrances.

The width of the beach is considerable. This not only allows you to lay out your towel without feeling crowded, but also gives plenty of room to enjoy beach sports without disturbing anyone.

It usually holds a Blue Flag as well and provides good access, nearby restaurants, surveillance, showers, and facilities for people with reduced mobility.

Heading north from Les Marines, we come to Les Bovetes. It shares many features with its neighbour, but is wider and longer, making it easier to find your spot on the sand.

3. Punta Negra: Snorkelling and Pure Nature

Looking for something wilder, different, with a taste of adventure? Welcome to Punta Negra, in the southern Denia area known as Les Rotes.

Here you won’t find sand, but you will find rock formations, deep blue waters, and an impressive marine life. It’s one of the most popular spots for snorkelling and diving, as it is part of the Cabo de San Antonio Marine Reserve.

The landscape is spectacular, ideal for disconnecting from the world and literally immersing yourself in nature. There is a main area at Punta Negra that tends to get crowded, but surrounding it are small pebble beaches, making the area quite spacious with plenty of room even during peak season.

That said: proper footwear is essential (like water shoes) to enter the water, as access is via rocks. There are also several nearby restaurants and a beautiful promenade to enjoy after your swim.

It is part of the Cabo de San Antonio Marine Reserve, making it a privileged spot for snorkelling and diving enthusiasts. This is the beach where I spent countless afternoons of my childhood swimming and diving, and for me, the afternoons are the perfect time to visit.

4. El Trampolí: Rocky Beach with All the Comforts

Still in Les Rotes, we arrive at one of the most unique beaches: El Trampolí. Despite its name, this spot is famous not only for the original diving board that gives the beach its name, but also for its perfect combination of comfort and rocky nature.

It’s a beach without sand, but with smooth rock areas where you can comfortably lie down. The water is so clear you can see the fish without goggles, and the surroundings exude pure relaxation.

There are stairs to enter the water, public toilets, lifeguard service, and nearby restaurants, making it perfect for those seeking something different without giving up comfort. It’s worth noting that a free parking area has recently been created nearby; previously, parking was limited and arriving late meant walking a long distance.

This unique location offers a different experience from typical sandy beaches, without the challenges found at other coves where it’s difficult to lay out a towel and sunbathe.

5. Playa Les Deveses: Wild Nature and Kitesurfing

To close this list with a flourish, we take you to the far north of Denia, where Les Deveses Beach stretches out in all its splendour.

It earns its place on this list for being spacious, natural, uncrowded, and one of the best spots for windsurfing and kitesurfing when the wind blows. The Racons (or Molinell) River flows here, adding an ecological and scenic bonus.

Recently renovated, it is now wider and more comfortable, as it was decades ago, while still retaining that sense of an open, natural beach without much surrounding urbanisation.

Les Deveses, the beach farthest from Denia, marks the beginning of the famous Costa Blanca. It is perfect for those who prefer a wild beach and want to enjoy the sand in peace.
