Parking in Dénia: The Ultimate Guide to Stress-Free Parking

parking en Denia junto a la playa

Parking in Dénia isn’t mission impossible, but if you’re not prepared… it can quickly turn into a real ordeal. Having driven through its streets for years — both in the quiet season and in the height of August — I can tell you first-hand that knowing where to park can make the difference between starting your day relaxed or completely frustrated.

Dénia is a beautiful, vibrant city full of life, beaches, delicious food, and charming corners that win everyone over. However, it’s also true that during the summer months, the influx of tourists and traffic restrictions in the town centre make parking a real challenge.

That’s why I’ve put together this complete and up-to-date guide with all the free and paid car parks in Dénia — from the port to Les Rotes, from Las Marinas to the old town. Let’s get started.

Why is it so hard to find parking in Dénia during the high season?

The transformation of Dénia’s town centre into a more pedestrian-friendly area has been a great success for both locals and visitors. It’s now much more pleasant to stroll along Calle Marqués de Campos or enjoy a drink on a terrace without cars passing just a few centimetres away. However, this change has reduced the number of parking spaces right where they’re most needed.

On top of that, during high season, Dénia’s population multiplies. Thousands of visitors arrive to enjoy its beaches, gastronomy, or to catch a ferry to the Balearic Islands — and of course, most of them come by car. The result is immense pressure on parking spaces, especially around the port, beaches, and old town.

Fortunately, the local council has responded well by creating a network of public car parks strategically located throughout the city. Added to that are private car parks and new parking areas near the busiest beaches, such as Les Rotes. Knowing where they are and when to use each one is the key.

Free parking in Dénia: real and well-located options

Let’s get straight to the point. If you’re coming to Dénia hoping not to pay a single euro for parking, there’s good news: there are quite a few free options conveniently spread around the city.

One of my favourites is the Avenida Miguel Hernández car park. It’s located in the northern area and has around 200 spaces. From there, you can walk to the castle in five minutes, or cross through the pedestrian tunnel to reach the town centre. Another very handy option is the Sant Joan car park with 320 spaces — ideal if you’re heading to Calle Diana or Marqués de Campos.

There’s also a small car park on Ronda Muralles, next to an old school. It only has around 60 spaces, but its location is excellent if you’re lucky enough to find a spot.

And if you don’t mind leaving your car a bit further away to avoid the chaos, Torrecremada is your best bet: more than 1,000 spaces near the bus station. Be careful if you come on a Monday, as the Monday market or autumn fair takes place there.

Parking near the beach: Les Rotes and Les Marines

Les Rotes

In Les Rotes, parking can be quite tricky, but there have been some major improvements. There are four free car parks:

  • La Marina de Dénia car park (250 spaces) — perfect if you’re visiting the Marina or Marineta Cassiana beach, and also ideal for accessing the Les Rotes promenade.
  • Marineta Cassiana car park (25 spaces) — smaller, located south of Marineta Beach, but very useful if you arrive early.
  • El Trampolí (around 100 spaces) — a newly created car park replacing the old one, which used to fill up quickly in summer. Perfect for accessing the cove area.
  • Punta Negra and the end of Les Rotes (139 spaces, also for motorhomes) — essential when traffic is cut off at the end of Les Rotes. Very convenient if you’re planning to hike to the Cova Tallada or the Torre del Gerro.

Les Marines

Further north, Les Marines offers larger and more relaxed parking areas. The most popular one is Punta del Raset, with 800 free spaces. There’s also the car park next to Restaurante Fernando, literally on the sand.

If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, there are two car parks in Les Bassetes Park, and the surrounding streets such as Mussola offer easy parking and direct access to Les Marines beach.

In my experience, if you’re planning to spend the whole day at the beach, these car parks are a lifesaver. Just remember to arrive early in July and August.

And in the centre? Free and paid parking in the heart of Dénia

The town centre is every driver’s battlefield. Parking here for free is pure luck — but not impossible.

Aside from the already mentioned Sant Joan and Miguel Hernández car parks, you can also try Ronda Muralles, although it’s quite small.

If you don’t mind paying, there are several very convenient options:

  • La Vía Car Park: underground, large and very central. Reasonably priced.
  • Centro Mar I and III: smaller but strategically located near Baix La Mar and the main shopping area.
  • El Raset and Moll Vell Car Parks: perfect if you also want to visit the port or take a stroll along the promenade.

On bank holidays or weekends, it’s usually best to head straight to a paid car park rather than waste half an hour driving in circles.

Parking at Dénia Port: what you need to know

Dénia Port is always a busy area. Restaurants, ferry departures, water sports… everything happens there. So, what are your options?

  • Free: Punta del Raset is once again your best ally.
  • Paid: there are several options. El Raset Car Park and Marina El Portet are right on the breakwater, close to the ferry terminal. There’s also La Lonja in the middle of the port and Moll Vell on the southern side.

In general, prices range between €1.10 and €1.50 per hour, with daily maximums between €15 and €26 depending on the car park.

Parking for the ferry, bus or train in Dénia

Bus station car park

If you need to leave your car near Dénia’s bus station, your best option is the public car park on Calle Jose Moncho Ferrer. It is located right next to the station, making it the most convenient and direct place to access intercity transport.

This car park offers around 120 free spaces and there is usually a good turnover of vehicles, so it’s not uncommon to find a spot even during peak hours. It is also open 24 hours a day, making it ideal for both short stops and longer stays.

As an alternative, just a few metres away you’ll find the large Torrecremada car park, with over 1,000 free spaces. It’s an excellent choice if you can’t find a spot on Calle Jose Moncho Ferrer or prefer a larger, more open area.

Train station car park

For those taking the train from Dénia (for example, towards Benidorm or Alicante via the TRAM), the best option is the car park on Calle Patricio Ferrándiz, located directly opposite the station.

This is a blue zone car park, meaning you’ll need to pay during business hours (usually Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 2pm and 5pm to 8pm). Outside these hours, parking is free. It has space for about 80 cars and generally offers good availability.

It’s a perfect solution if you’re only staying for a few hours, as you can pay by the minute and avoid carrying luggage from further away.

Ferry to the Balearic Islands car park

If you’re planning to set sail for Ibiza or Formentera, the official Dénia Maritime Station car parks are your best option. There are three types:

  • P1 – Short stay
Ideal if you’re dropping off or picking up passengers, handling quick errands, or embarking without leaving your car.
    • First 45 minutes: Free
    • Rate: €1.50/hour
    • Daily maximum: €26
  • P2 and P3 – Long stay
Designed for longer trips or travellers leaving their car for several days.
    • First 45 minutes: Free
    • Rate: €1.10/hour
    • Daily maximum: €15
    • Advance booking available at balearia.com or by phone.

The entrances to these car parks are clearly signposted from the northern breakwater and Avenida Miguel Hernández. I always recommend booking your space in advance during peak season, as the flow of travellers to the Balearic Islands is very high.

Lesser-known but very useful parking areas

Many drivers rush into the centre without realising there are better alternatives:

  • Entrance to Dénia via Avenida de Valencia: 200 spaces for those arriving from the main road.
  • Avinguda del Montgó: a 15-minute walk from the centre. Ideal if you’re planning a relaxed day out.

These areas are off most visitors’ radar, but they work perfectly when other car parks are full.

Practical tips for parking in Dénia like a local

  1. Arrive early, especially in August.
  2. Avoid the centre if you’re not in a hurry. It’s better to park on the outskirts and walk.
  3. If you’re going to Les Rotes, use the new car parks. They are larger and specifically designed to prevent issues on the narrow streets leading to the coves.
  4. Book a space if you’re taking the ferry. This will save you from last-minute stress.
  5. Carry coins or use apps like Telpark for blue zone parking.
  6. On market days (Mondays), Torrecremada fills up and changes usage. Avoid it on those days.

Parking in Dénia is possible (if you know how)

Knowing the parking options in Dénia well is the difference between a relaxed day and a stressful one. That’s why I wanted to share this guide with you. There’s no magic formula, but there are strategies that work: well-located free car parks, reasonably priced paid parking, and alternatives for beaches, the centre, the port, and public transport.

Remember: Dénia is best enjoyed on foot, and with this guide, leaving your car doesn’t have to be a headache.
