chiringuito en Denia

Do you dream of the sun on your skin, the sea breeze, and the sound of the waves while enjoying a refreshing cocktail or a freshly prepared delicious dish? If so, the beach bars in Dénia are made for you. This coastal town on the Costa Blanca combines postcard-perfect beaches with Mediterranean cuisine that’s hard to beat.

Dénia offers an authentic summer experience—one that doesn’t need filters. From hidden coves to long stretches of sandy beaches, here beach bars are enjoyed with your feet in the sand and your soul in holiday mode. I bring you this guide based on my own experience, so you can discover the best spots to savour summer to the fullest.

What Makes a Beach Bar in Dénia So Special?

We’re not talking about just a simple beach bar. The beach bars in Dénia’s beaches are an essential part of the holiday experience. There’s something magical about going straight from the sea to the table in seconds, without losing the salt on your skin or the smile on your face.

The atmosphere is always relaxed, almost familiar. Flip-flops, swimsuits and sunglasses are the unofficial dress code — and that only adds to the charm. Best of all, most offer gentle background music while the Mediterranean gifts you a sunset you’ll never forget.

The food is another highlight. From fresh fish and perfectly cooked rice dishes to classic tapas and cocktails made with care. There’s something for every taste, from quality packaged meals in natural areas to gourmet options in beach bars with their own kitchens.

Many operate from July 1st until the end of October, and some even open in May, extending the season so you can make the most of every ray of sunshine.

A Tour of the Beaches and Their Best Beach Bars

Dénia’s coastline is divided into two areas: Las Rotas to the south, and Las Marinas to the north. Each area has its own personality and, of course, its iconic beach bars.

Southern Area: Las Rotas

  • Marineta Cassiana Beach
This is the quintessential urban beach, ideal for families thanks to its accessibility and calm waters. Here you can enjoy the beach bar from May onwards.
    • El de la Marineta Beach Bar
A classic. Its homemade cuisine and freshly prepared dishes make it the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed meal by the sea. Very popular for its proximity to the town centre and laid-back vibe.

What You Should Know Before Your Visit

To help you make the most of your experience, here are some useful details I’ve gathered from my visits:

  • Opening Hours: The general operating and public opening hours for the beach bars are from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • Music and Atmosphere: You can enjoy ambient music to enhance your beach day, generally allowed from 10:00 a.m. to midnight.
  • Essential Services: The beach bars provide public, free restrooms for all beachgoers. They are well-maintained and accessible for people with reduced mobility.
  • Sustainability: Dénia is committed to sustainability. For this reason, beach bars encourage the use of reusable containers and invite you to take part in recycling efforts to help protect our beaches.
  • Food Options: On some of the more natural or protected beaches like Els Molins, Les Bovetes and parts of Las Marinas, beach bars focus on refreshing drinks, ice creams, and high-quality packaged foods ready to enjoy — ideal for a quick bite without handling food on the sand. Those with their own kitchens offer a full dining experience.

Enjoy the Beach in Comfort: Sunbeds and Umbrellas

If you prefer not to carry all your beach gear, you’re in luck. Dénia’s beaches offer sunbed and umbrella rental services in designated areas.

  • Service available at:
    • Northern Area – Les Marines: Punta Raset, Albaranes, Marines, Les Bovetes, Els Molins
    • Southern Area – Les Rotes: Marineta Cassiana
  • Opening hours: from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. in July and August, and until 8:00 p.m. during other months.

An excellent option if you want to spend the whole day at the beach with every comfort.

Other Beachfront Spots You Can’t Miss

Restaurante Helios en las Rotas Denia

Dénia doesn’t only shine with its beach bars. It also boasts beachfront restaurants that are worth a visit (or several).

In Las Rotas:

  • Helios Restaurant
Located in a dreamy spot in Las Rotas, Helios sits practically right on the sea. It’s a magical place to have a drink in a relaxed atmosphere, enjoying the sea breeze and, above all, the stunning views, especially at sunset. Many describe it as the place with “the best sunsets in Dénia,” perfect for completely unwinding.

In Las Marinas:

  • Primera Línea Restaurant: As its name suggests, this restaurant is located on the front line of Las Marinas Beach, offering a beach bar vibe with all the services of a quality restaurant. Its extensive and varied menu features delicious Valencian and Mediterranean cuisine. While prices reflect the quality and location, the experience is highly valued for its excellent service and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Blay Beach Restaurant: With a long-standing presence on Las Marinas Beach, Blay Beach is a benchmark of traditional Valencian and Mediterranean cuisine. It stands out for its wide variety of rice dishes and fideuàs, making it a popular spot to savour classic paellas like arroz a banda or arroz negro, as well as fresh seafood and fish. Its prime location allows you to enjoy a beachfront atmosphere while dining, and the terrace area with umbrellas and lounge chairs is perfect for relaxing.
  • Chiringuito Los Baños Sunshine Restaurant: Open since 1974 and recognised as one of Spain’s best beach bars, it offers a Mediterranean-fusion menu focused on locally sourced products. Customers praise the quality of the cuisine, especially the rice dishes and fideuàs, described as “spectacular.” The décor is very well executed, giving it a beachy, Mediterranean vibe with many Instagrammable corners.
