Every summer, thousands of tourists choose Spain’s coastline for its beauty, excellent facilities and safety. But not all beaches are the same. One distinction sets some apart from the rest: the Blue Flag — an international symbol that guarantees water quality, accessibility, sustainability and top-notch services for visitors.
Spain leads the world ranking for Blue Flags, and within the country, the Valencian Community is the region with the highest number of award-winning beaches. Denia, with its seven Blue Flags in 2025, stands out as one of the leading destinations for high-quality tourism along the Mediterranean coast.
When a beach in Denia flies this flag, it means it is not only beautiful but also safe, accessible and environmentally responsible. For visitors, it’s a mark of trust. For residents, a source of pride. And for the town itself, a clear sign of the collective effort to offer a well-cared-for coastline ready to welcome all kinds of travellers.

Why are Blue Flags so important? What they mean and why they are a mark of quality
Beaches awarded with a Blue Flag must meet very strict criteria, divided into four main areas:
- Environmental education: information panels, awareness activities and respect for the local ecosystem.
- Water quality: regular testing and excellent health standards.
- Environmental management: cleanliness, recycling, well-maintained public toilets and sustainable waste management.
- Safety and services: lifeguard presence, access for people with reduced mobility, clear signage and proper equipment.
Now that you know the criteria these beaches meet, you’ll definitely want to discover which ones they are.

Cala Punta Negra: the natural gem newly awarded in 2025

The big news for 2025 is the inclusion of Punta Negra in the select group of Blue Flag beaches. This small rocky cove, located right in the heart of the Les Rotes Marine Reserve, has long been one of the best-kept secrets for snorkelling enthusiasts.
Getting there is part of the adventure. You can walk along the beautiful Les Rotes promenade or drive, thanks to the car park provided by the Town Council. Once you arrive, you’ll find a stunning rocky landscape with crystal-clear waters.
I was delighted to discover that there are two clearly defined areas: Punta Negra itself, with easier access and steps into the sea, which tends to be more popular, and another area further south, much quieter and more secluded, with small pebble spots perfect for switching off. As it lies within the marine reserve, the underwater show is guaranteed — schools of fish, transparent waters, posidonia meadows and seabirds such as cormorants hunting close to the shore.
If you enjoy photography, Punta Negra offers spectacular corners where you can capture the wild essence of the Mediterranean. It’s a different kind of beach — full of character — and now, with its well-deserved Blue Flag, it’s ready to welcome those seeking something more than just sand and a beach bar.

Les Bovetes: golden sand and a family-friendly atmosphere

If you’re looking for fine sand, plenty of space and a relaxed vibe, Les Bovetes is your beach. This semi-urban stretch offers 1,800 metres of coastline with every service you could need.
The quality of the sand is remarkable – soft, golden, perfect for a stroll or to lie back and unwind. Although it’s a popular beach, it never feels overcrowded thanks to its generous width and distance from the town centre. The best advice is to arrive early, especially in summer, as the car park fills up quickly.
Les Bovetes is the perfect example of how a beach can blend nature with good infrastructure. It has ramps for people with reduced mobility, lifeguard stations, foot showers, sunbed and parasol hire… and one thing I particularly appreciate: the beach bars and nearby restaurants where you can enjoy a delicious paella with sea views.
Its Blue Flag is no coincidence. Everything here is well maintained — from water quality to environmental respect. And if you’re travelling with family, it’s one of the most recommended options thanks to its accessibility and full range of facilities.

Les Marines: tradition, great facilities and space for everyone

When we talk about Les Marines, we’re talking about one of Denia’s best-known beaches.
What makes it special? Its versatility. It’s ideal for families, couples or groups of friends. With an average width of 80 metres, there’s plenty of room even on busy days.
I love coming here because you have everything within easy reach: good access points, play areas, lifeguards, beach bars and nearby shops. The water quality is consistently excellent, which has earned it a well-deserved Blue Flag.
Whether you’re spending a full day by the sea or just taking a sunset stroll, Les Marines is always a safe bet.

Marineta Cassiana: peace and biodiversity close to the town centre

Located at the beginning of Les Rotes, Marineta Cassiana is a very special beach: brown sand, a small bay protected by two breakwaters and a beautiful seafront promenade. It’s the closest beach to Denia town centre and therefore a favourite among both locals and visitors.
What I love most about Marineta Cassiana is that it feels like a natural swimming pool. You can walk tens of metres into the water and still touch the ground, making it perfect for children or anyone who isn’t a confident swimmer. There are also posidonia seagrass meadows very close to the shore, which keep the water clean and full of marine life.
There are two clearly defined areas: the one nearest to town is wide and well-equipped (beach bar, public toilets, hotels, restaurants), while the second, longer section is quieter and much less crowded, even in August.
It may be an urban beach, but its natural surroundings are well looked after — and its Blue Flag is proof of that.

Els Molins: space, sport and total disconnection

Els Molins, also known as Punta de l’Estanyó, is ideal for those looking for a spacious, uncrowded beach. Located 7 km from the town centre, it’s wide, peaceful and easily accessible by car or public transport.
Its 2.7 km of coastline make it perfect for long walks along the shore, and its gradual entry into the sea is great for families with children. The water quality is excellent, and the presence of lifeguards adds an extra level of safety. There are also facilities such as beach bars and sunbed hire.
One of its main attractions is that in winter it becomes a paradise for kitesurfing and wing foiling, thanks to the steady winds.
Els Molins is more than just a beach — it’s true disconnection.
Punta del Raset: an urban beach with everything at hand

Located very close to the port, Punta del Raset is one of Denia’s busiest beaches – but also one of the most convenient. Its soft sand, full range of facilities and privileged location make it perfect for visitors who want to stay close to the town centre.
Despite its popularity, its large size (over 600 metres long) means there’s always space to settle in. You can reach it on foot from the port promenade or by car. There are walkways, foot showers, volleyball nets, a children’s playground, lifeguards… it truly has it all!
It’s a very family-friendly beach with a lively atmosphere — ideal for spending the whole day without a care in the world.

Les Deveses: the longest, wildest and newly regenerated

Les Deveses is Denia’s longest beach, stretching for almost 3 km. Located about 12 km from the town centre, it remains a peaceful haven even in the height of summer.
This beach has undergone major transformations, and thanks to recent regeneration work it has gained between 30 and 110 metres in width. It now offers more space than ever and a stunning natural setting, with dunes, a river mouth and unspoilt surroundings that will win you over.
Perfect for sports such as kitesurfing or for long scenic walks, Les Deveses is the wild soul of Denia.

Denia’s marinas also fly the Blue Flag
It’s not just the beaches: Marina de Dénia and Marina El Portet have also been awarded in the category of Blue Flag marinas.
This recognition is due to their environmental management, sustainable facilities, high-quality services and environmental education programmes. Both marinas are national benchmarks and are fully aligned with the responsible nautical tourism that Denia actively promotes.
