Description
Almadraba Beach in Denia, located about 10 kilometres north of the town centre, is mainly distinguished for being the only beach with white pebbles in the area, a result of the millennia-long action of the Girona River that flows directly into this beach.
A key feature of this beach is its usually crystal-clear waters, thanks to the absence of sand, allowing visitors to enjoy a seabed full of life. The Posidonia meadows extend beneath the surface, home to a rich marine fauna and flora that will delight diving and snorkelling enthusiasts.
Almadraba is surrounded by golden sandy beaches such as Les Deveses to the north and Els Molins to the south, but it remains the only pebble beach in the area, making it a special destination for those seeking something different. Its tranquil atmosphere and easy access make it perfect for families and locals looking to escape the busier tourist spots.
The natural surroundings provide an authentic and relaxing experience, very different from the more crowded beaches along the coast of Denia.

More Information
The beach takes its name from La Torre Almadraba, located nearby. It is a watchtower and defence tower built between 1552 and 1553. This historic monument, in good condition thanks to restoration, offers views of the Mediterranean and is close to archaeological remains such as a mill and a well. An information panel allows visitors to imagine its original state. It is a visit that can be made from the beach.
The tower protected a tuna trap (almadraba), a key site for processing tuna, and played a strategic role in safeguarding the Girona River, a vital water source for the local population. Located near the beach and the river mouth, it measures 6 metres in diameter and 12 metres in height. Although the surroundings have changed and it is now surrounded by a garden, it evokes its historic function as a defence against pirate attacks.
